Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions failed to prove their worth before a 10-man-down Syli Nationals of Guinea, in their first AFCON2023 debut as they came from the back to manage a 1-1 draw.
The boys of Rigobert Song conceded an early minute goal following a miss understand in their 18M box. The Guineans without any waste of time seized the opportunity to take the lead.
At the 10th minute of play, Cameroon took a psychological blow. 1 for Guinea, zero for Cameroon. This was to the greatest suprise of fans.
Following the goal the Lions decided to take the National Elephants of Guinea by their horns and came knocking at their defence wall in vain.
However, the pressure they mounted led to Guineans making some errors and the worst that could was the fowl comminted by Guinea’s captain, on Cameroon’s striker Frank Magri. Guinea had her captain dismissed from the pitch. Hence, reduced to 10men some few minutes to halftime.
At this point Cameroonians thought the Lions will seize the opportunity and secure their victory.
Halftime Guinea 1 – 0 Cameroon.
Fast forward into the 2nd half, cane kept pressing and finally got an equalizer as a result of header from Frank Magri on a pass by Nkoudou. Cameroon 1 – 1 Guinea.
The score line remained unchanged till the final whistle of the game. Cameroon despite all their attempts were weak as compared to team Guinea who had her captain sent off the pitch .
In their next outing, Cameroon will face defending champions Senegal who flogged The Gambia 3 goals to zero, while Guinea will take on The Gambia, who is presently few last with zero point in Group C.
