Cameroon’s national football team, the Indomptable Lions, have announced their final squad of 27 players who will represent the country at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 in Ivory Coast. The head coach, Rigobert Song, made some surprising omissions from the squad, leaving out experienced players in the likes of Choupo Moting, Fai Collins, and Kunde Malong.
Despite these omissions, it is believed that the Indomptable Lions still have a strong squad for the tournament. The goalkeeping department will be manned by Andre Onana, Devis Epassy, Simon Ngapandouetnbu, and Fabrice Ondoa. They will be tasked with keeping the opposition at bay and ensuring a solid defense.
In defense, the team will rely on the likes of Christopher Wooh, Junior Tchamadeu, Nouhou Tolo, Darlin Yongwa, Oumar Gonzalez, Harold Moukoudi, Jean Charles Casteletto, Enzo Tchato, and Malcom Bokele to provide stability and prevent the opposing teams from scoring.
The midfield will be led by Zambo Anguissa, Yvan Neyou, Olivier Ntcham, Olivier Kemen, Wilfried Nathan, Ben Eliott, and Leonel Ateba. These players will be crucial in controlling the game and creating scoring opportunities for the attackers.
Speaking of strikers, the Indomptable Lions will rely on the likes of Njie Clinton, Karl Toko Ekambi, George Nkoudou, Vincent Aboubakar, Faris Pemi Moumbagna, Francois Regis Mughe, and Frank Magri to find the back of the nets and secure victories for the team.
With this final squad, Cameroon will be aiming to reclaim the AFCON title which they last won in 2017. The team will face tough competition from other African powerhouses, but with a talented group of players, it is hoped that they do the necessary.
