African teams now know their opponents at group stage of the 2023, Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw comes three months before the continent’s most prestigious sports event, gets underway from the 13th of January to the 11th of February 2023.
As for Cameroon, she will face a challenging test when she comes clashing with defending Africa Cup of Nations champions, Senegal, in the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Both sides find themselves in the same group following draws conducted in Abidjan on Thursday evening of October 12th, 2023.
The two continental heavyweights will therefore begin the competition in Group C alongside Guinea and Gambia.
Meanwhile, Senegal and Cameroon are set clash in a friendly match in France on Monday October 16th, as part of preparations for the upcoming continental football jamboree.
Reacting to the draws, Senegalese star, Sadio Mane said, it is a tough group, but Senegal will give their best to go through from the first round.
Mane led Senegal to a first ever AFCON title win in Cameroon last year, when the Teranga Lions beat Egypt on penalties. Hence, they will attempt to defend their crown at the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
It is worth mentioning, six venues across Ivory Coast will host matches, including two stadia in Abidjan along with newly constructed venues in Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro and Yamoussoukro.
It should be noted, the top two in each of the six groups will progress to the next stage, along with the best four third-placed teams.
