The anticipation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 is building up as the different teams gear up for the prestigious tournament. Group E, which comprises Tunisia, Mali, South Africa, and Namibia, promises to be an exciting and fiercely contested group.

Tunisia, known as the Eagles of Carthage, are no strangers to the AFCON competition. They have a rich history in the tournament, having won the title once in 2004 and finishing as runners-up on two occasions. For this edition, they will start by taking on Namibia, on the 16th of January, at 5pm.

Namibia, the Brave Warriors, considered the underdogs of Group E, will be appearing in an AFCON for the fourth time, having previously participated in 1998, 2008 and 2019. Unfortunately, they have never gone beyond the group stage. Hence, will be looking to cause an upset and progress beyond the group stage.
In the same group, the Eagles of Mali, have consistently been a force to reckon with in AFCON but are yet to set their eyes on the trophy. It is hoped that Mali will go one step further this time around and lift the trophy for the first time in their history.
They will begin their journey when they come facing the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on the same day, at 8pm.
The Bafana Bafanas have had their fair share of success in AFCON. They achieved a historic triumph in 1996 when they hosted the tournament, becoming champions on home soil. Since then, South Africa has had mixed fortunes in the competition, but with a young and talented squad, they will be hoping to make a strong impression this year.
As the teams continue their preparations and fine-tune their strategies, football enthusiasts can hardly wait for the kickoff of Group E matches. With Tunisia, Mali, South Africa, and Namibia all hungry for success, one thing is for certain – Group E will be a spectacle to behold.
