The indomitable Lions of Cameroon have failed to secure a victory against their African rival, the Teranga Lions of Senegal, talk less of a draw.

Rigobert Song and his boys, bowed to Aliou Cissé’s by one goal to zero, after Sadio Mane came transforming a penalty into goal at first half.

Quick into the game, the Teranga Lions took possession of the ball, putting Cameroon’s offensive line in hardship.

As if it wasn’t enough, Mane and his team mates suffered the defensive block as they came knocking back-to-back for a goal.

With their offensive line putting Charles Castelleto and his defense members to work, Andre Onana was however, on alert as he stopped a number of shots on targets, triggered by the Teranga Lions.

The pressure they mounted on the Indomptable Lions, eventually paid off, when Cameroon’s defense fouled a Teranga Lion, in the 18 meters box of goal keeper Andre Onana, causing a penalty that led to the lone goal of the friendly encounter.

Fast forward into the second half, Senegalese unending pressure was still noticed, though the Indomptable Lions tried changing the narratives of the game.

Aboubacar and his team mates graciously made a number of counter attacks but which were weak, lacked swiftness, strength, precision coupled with tactical errors that eventually made them unfruitful before Édouard Mendy’s goal post.

Hence, the game ended with the Teranga Lions having the upper hand, as the Indomptable Lions failed to even find an equalizer.

Despite Cameroon’s loss, it should be noted, Rigobert Song seized the opportunity to put some other players to test in the likes of Ben Elliot, Franck Magri among others, considering the fact that, it was a friendly encounter and the end result was not that important, as coach Aliou Cissé said at press conference before the game.

Presently, Cameroon is to begin her qualification race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in November 2023 as they will come facing Maurice on November 13th, and later on, meet with Libya on November 20th.

In order words, Rigobert Song, after loosing two friendly encounters, first against Russia and secondly against Senegal, is expected to buckle up and begin the World Cup Qualifications with victories, since it would go a long way to boost their morals, as they get set to dive into the continental bonanza come January 13th, to February 11th, 2024, in Côte d’Ivoire.
