Richelle Anita Soppi Mbella of Cameroon has made history by claiming the gold medal in the women’s +78kg category at the 2024 African Judo Open, held in Marrakech from June 1-2, 2024.
This impressive victory has marked a significant milestone for Cameroon’s judo team, showcasing the country’s growing strength in the sport on the continental stage.
Mbella’s achievement was complemented by the impressive performances of two other Cameroonian judokas. Daniel Mepoui Anong secured the silver medal in the men’s +100kg category, while Georgia Wesly Djengue Moune earned a bronze medal in the women’s -78kg category.
