The Douala City Council recently held a ceremony to award medals of honor for work on April 19th. Minister of Labor and Social Security, Grégoire Owona, presented 243 medals to 129 recipients at the Besseké plaza.
The event was presided over by the minister himself, in the presence of Mayor of Douala, Roger Mbassa Diné, who congratulated the recipients for their contributions and encouraged those who have not yet received medals to continue working hard, as their efforts will ultimately be recognized.
Minister Owona, in the same light, commended the efforts of the Douala City Council in their fight against unsanitary conditions, highlighting the implementation of the « Douala Clean City » project as a positive step towards improving the city’s cleanliness and hygiene.
The recipients of the medals received them in bronze, silver, and gold, acknowledging that their efforts and contributions over the years have been recognized and appreciated, this in the presence of traditional authorities.
This event was a part of the city’s social policy and aimed to recognize and reward the hard work and dedication of its employees. The awarding of medals of honor for work according to the authorities, is way to motivate and encourage citizens to continue working hard and contributing to the development of the city.
