The Cameroon Music Council (CMC) has announced a strategic plan aimed at transforming the music industry into a robust and economically viable sector.

During a recent press briefing, the CMC outlined its comprehensive strategy which includes enhancing the quality of music production, improving distribution channels, and fostering local and international collaborations. One of the key elements of this strategy is the development of infrastructure that supports music creation and performance. This involves establishing state-of-the-art recording studios and performance venues across the country.

Moreover, the CMC is focusing on capacity building by offering training programs for artists, producers, and managers. These programs aim to equip industry professionals with the necessary skills to navigate the evolving music landscape. The council is also advocating for better intellectual property laws to protect artists’ rights and ensure they receive fair compensation for their work.

To boost the economic impact of the music industry, the CMC is promoting music tourism and organizing major events like the Cameroon International Music Festival (CIMFEST). These events not only provide platforms for local artists to showcase their talents but also attract international attention, thereby increasing revenue streams for the industry.

The council’s efforts are supported by partnerships with both local and international entities, ensuring that Cameroonian music reaches a broader audience. By implementing these strategies, the CMC hopes to create a sustainable and thriving music industry that significantly contributes to the national economy.
