A campaign to fight high blood pressure has been announced and launched by Douala Gyneaco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital. The campaign, which will run until May 31st, coincides with the observance of World No-Tobacco Day on the same date, which is focused on advocating for an end to the targeting of youth with harmful tobacco products.

The aim of the campaign, detecting high blood pressure and help stop tobacco consumption. The campaign, which is being held at the Douala Gyneco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital, also seeks to raise awareness and provide education on the dangers of high blood pressure and the importance of a tobacco-free lifestyle. High blood pressure, a leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, is a significant public health concern in Cameroon and across the African continent.

By aligning the campaign with World No-Tobacco Day, the hospital and it’s medical practitioners, are said to be taking a comprehensive approach to addressing the interrelated issues of hypertension and tobacco use. Note that Tobacco consumption is argued to be a major contributor to the development and exacerbation of various health conditions, including high blood pressure, making it crucial to address both factors simultaneously.

The campaign is expected to reach a wide audience, providing valuable information and resources to the local community. Through this initiative, the Douala Gyneco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital aims to empower individuals to take proactive steps towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle, reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases in the region.
