CAMEROON – MURDER : BOY STABBED BY A BIKE RIDER

In a distressing incident in Limbe, Cameroon, a young boy was fatally stabbed by a motorbike rider, sparking outrage and sorrow in the community. The incident took place at Mile 4 Park, where tensions between commercial drivers and local authorities had already been high due to recent hikes in fuel prices and increased fees imposed on drivers.

Eyewitnesses reported that the altercation began when the boy, who had a history of clashing with the bike rider, tried to stop the rider from passing through the area. The rider, in a fit of anger, allegedly stabbed the boy in the head. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.

Other sources (Cameroon news agency) share that late Caleb was trying to intervene between his friend and the bike rider in an attempt to prevent the situation from escalating.

The stabbing led to a significant disruption in the area, with other bike riders showing solidarity by halting their services, leaving many passengers stranded. This incident has intensified the frustration among the drivers, who have been facing mounting challenges, including steep operational costs and multiple military checkpoints along their routes.

Local authorities are investigating the incident, and the community is calling for justice and better protection for its members. This tragic event underscores the escalating tensions and the urgent need for resolving underlying issues affecting transport operators in Limbe.
