In a heartfelt plea, the Imam of Buea, Sheikh Mohammed Idriss, has urged Cameroonian leaders to actively pursue peace in the troubled Anglophone regions.

Speaking during a Friday prayer session, Imam Idriss emphasized the urgent need for dialogue and reconciliation amid ongoing violence and instability.

“The time has come for our leaders to prioritize peace and work towards a lasting solution,” stated Imam Idriss. His call comes as the North-West and South-West regions continue to experience conflict between separatist groups and government forces, resulting in significant civilian suffering.

Imam Idriss’s message resonates with many community members who are weary of the prolonged crisis. Local residents and various religious leaders have echoed his sentiments, advocating for a unified approach to end the violence.

Government officials and peace advocates have welcomed the Imam’s appeal, highlighting the crucial role of religious leaders in fostering peace and unity. Efforts to mediate and facilitate dialogue are seen as vital steps toward resolving the conflict and restoring stability in the region.
