Ndolê, the traditional dish originating from the Littoral region, was celebrated during an economic forum held on October 27, 2023. The event, which took place in the André Siaka conference room at Gicam, the economic capital, aimed to highlight the gastronomic potential of Cameroon and its role in economic diplomacy.
The Elessa-Lothin-Sen Foundation, a moral partner of the economic forum, played a key role in promoting Ndolê as a national pride. With 500 ingredients and 300 recipes in Cameroonian cuisine, Ndolê stands out as an important dish that can generate profits and contribute to the country’s diplomacy. « The objective is to make people aware of the gastronomic potential of the country. The speakers discussed the economic and gastronomic abundance we have in Cameroon, » said Lothin Elessa Louis-Deschamps, president of the foundation.

The economic forum provided a platform for attendees to discuss other Cameroonian culinary specialties that deserve recognition such as koki, eru, achu, and Ndolê, considered for inclusion in UNESCO’s list of world heritages to be preserved.
Ndolê, in particular, has gained international recognition and can now be found in banquets and frozen food sections in France. « It is this evolution that makes everyone enjoy each other’s food. And besides, it is starting to be exported, » said Gaston Kelmann, one of the speakers at the forum.
