The Cameroon’s Association of English Speaking Journalist Douala (CAMASEJ-D) recently concluded its highly anticipated peace tournament on the 2nd of December. The event, which took place at the Camtel Bepanda stadium, was a resounding success, bringing together journalists, media professionals, and sports enthusiasts and their partners from across the region.
It began last November and aims to promote unity, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists – Douala. With tensions often running high in the media industry, the CAMASEJ-D Peace Tournament provided a unique opportunity for journalists to come together in a friendly and competitive environment.
The event was graced by the presence of the Divisional Officer of Douala V, and the Regional Delegate for Communication. Their attendance portrayed the significance of the tournament and the importance of promoting peace and unity in the media landscape.
The tournament featured four teams notably, CAMASEJ-D, HIPE, ALPHA and PEPCAM, institutions who are all partners of this association. The teams all demonstrated their skills and determination throughout the competition, displaying a high level of sportsmanship and professionalism.
The matches were fiercely contested, with each team giving their all to secure victory. The tournament showcased the talent and passion of journalists beyond their work in the newsroom, highlighting their love for sports and their commitment to promoting peace.
The final match of the tournament was a thrilling encounter between two formidable teams. After a closely fought battle, they went into penalty shootouts with APHA Institute beating PEPCAM 4 to 3.
In addition to the exhilarating matches, the tournament also featured various entertainment activities, which created a festive atmosphere, further enhancing the sense of unity and celebration among the participants and spectators.
