Starting this February 26, the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé has been buzzing with discussions at the Cameroon Economic Meetings (REC), a landmark event organized by the Cameroon Business Association (GECAM). This inaugural edition focuses on revitalizing the national economy in an era of profound global change. The forum brings together key development players, business leaders, experts, and influential figures including the Prime Minister head of government who is the special representative of the head of states to discuss strategies for Cameroon’s economic growth.

The agenda features multiple workshops running concurrently, tackling crucial themes for the country’s economic transformation. One of the most critical topics is infrastructure development, viewed as a strategic investment to accelerate growth. This session gathers influential figures, including the Minister of Public Works and sector experts. Meanwhile, digital transformation and innovation in business have also taken center stage.

Given Cameroon’s lag in digital adaptation, discussions focus on tailored solutions for modernizing businesses and government services, with key contributions from MINPOSTEL, ORANGE Cameroon, and the University Agency for Innovation. Energy and industry are also in the spotlight, with a dedicated session on energy policies essential for effective industrial development. Executives from major companies such as ENEO and Panzani Cameroon share insights on the sector’s challenges and opportunities.

Another pivotal debate revolves around governance, a crucial factor in enhancing the competitiveness of both public and private institutions. Legal experts, business leaders, and economists discuss the reforms needed to boost transparency and efficiency in economic management.

One of the forum’s highlights is the presence of Tony Elumelu, Nigerian economist, entrepreneur, philantropist and Chairman of UBA BANKS, HEIRS HOLDINGS, TRANSCORP, best known as the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation. Arriving in Yaoundé yesterday at around 3 PM, he was welcomed by Season Media, accredited to cover his visit. His much-anticipated speech is expected to provide an inspiring perspective on entrepreneurship and economic development in Africa.

With dynamic discussions and strategic recommendations, the Cameroon Economic Meetings 2025 is shaping up to be a premier platform for reflection and action in defining the country’s economic future.
