Côte d’Ivoire’s President Alassane Ouattara, on october 6th 2023, proceeded to the sacking of his Prime Minister, Patrick ACHI, and dissolved the entire government.
With no tangible reason given, Alassane Ouattara eventually signed the decree putting an end to the office of Prime Minister, head of government Patrick ACHI, as well as his government.
An information rendered public by Abdourahmane Cissé, the Secretary General at the Presidency. Ivorian president, in the same light, announced a new government will be put in place in the next days.
However, Patrick Achi and his ministers are still responsible for handling current affairs until their successors are appointed.
In the meantime, the Ivorian head of state in his outing made on Friday 6th of October, seized the opportunity to thank the Prime Minister and the members of the government, for their commitment to the nation over the past years.
Nonetheless, it is reported, that members of government had been expecting such announcement as the President himself, last September 28th, informed them of an upcoming reshuffle.
With the wind of military coups currently blowing through french Africa, individuals argue that, it is in a bid to counter any subsequent military coup that may take place in his country, that Ouattara has decided to reshuffle the government.
On the other hand, others say, he desires to begin preparing the ground for the upcoming presidential elections.
