Théophile Job Kwapnang is the new regional president of the Social Democratic Front, the SDF in the Littoral region, Cameroon.

He was elected, following a tightly fought race at the weekend in which he beat his main challenger, Benilde Djeumeni by 74 votes to 73. Kwapnang thus, replaces Jean Michel Nintcheu, who was excluded from the party last February for anti-party affairs.

In his initial remarks, the new regional president says he is elated because chairing the SDF at the regional level has always been one of his main political goals.

He says, the SDF Littoral has in previous years, suffered from a lot of dormancy and, it is time to wake it from slumber and render it vibrant again.

Expressing recognition to his comrades for electing him, Kwapnang says he believes all hands will come on deck for future successes.

His priority, he indicated, is to regain the confidence of the presidents of the cells, the presidents of the constituencies, the divisional coordinators.

He was installed in his new position along with the entire regional office, by the head of the commission in charge of the renewal process for the littoral ,  senator Mochiggle Valegansen.

Despite tensions prior to the elections, pundits hold the steam generated during the regional conference is a prove of the vitality in Cameroon’s leading opposition party, the SDF.
