In a significant announcement, the Court of Appeal of Dakar has unveiled the preliminary results of the presidential election held on March 24, confirming Bassirou Diomaye Faye as Senegal’s 5th President.
Faye emerged as the frontrunner, securing 54.28% of the votes, with Amadou Ba trailing behind at 35.79%, followed by Aliou Mamadou Dia with 2.80%.
Following this announcement, outgoing President Macky Sall welcomed President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye at the presidential palace on March 28. The meeting focused on state matters and discussions regarding the upcoming swearing-in and power transition ceremony, marking a significant political transition in Senegal.
With Macky Sall scheduled to vacate the presidency on the 2nd April 2024, the stage is set for the installation of the newly elected president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, signaling a new chapter in Senegal’s political landscape.
