The road leading to the PK 17 campuses of the university of Douala is in a deplorable state.
As the academic year for varsity students flags off in a few weeks , many them are already contemplating on how to brave the deplorable road connecting mainland to PK 17 .
Newly enrolled students of the university of Douala will be plying this stretch of road to attend lessons, as the ball is set to start rolling for the new university school year.
With climate forecasts still predicting heavy rains , the beginning would be a task for the students and lecturers as they will have to swim through the muddy road .
« It’s really heartbreaking, for us students to go to school having to deal with such a bad road » a student cries out.
Their tribulations continue with the end of the raining season as the thick and sticky mudd will transform into cloud of suffocating dust.
Vehicle owners and bike riders languish, as they often pay visits to the repairer. « It is not easy. We are are simply stranded due to the state of the road. We repairer shops have become our resting point » a bike rider laments.
As a result, the students and commuters beckon on the help of the authorities.
According to sources, rehabilitation projects were set to begin some years ago, but as it stands, the population still wonder why these works are yet to start.
