Turkish club Besiktas, over the weekend confirmed that their Cameroonian striker, Vincent Aboubakar, was admitted at the hospital due to abdominal pain and a high fever that occurred after training on Saturday October 28th.
The Indomitable Lions striker spent the night at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital in Istanbul, Saturday and Sunday where diagnostics and treatment procedures were initiated to determine the precise cause of his symptoms.
Vincent Aboubakar, who enjoyed his first success at Besiktas between 2016 and 2021 with 35 goals in 67 matches, recently returned to defend the club’s colors last winter.
During the second half of last season, he scored 11 goals in 16 games.
This season, the 31-year-old has already scored 4 goals in 9 league games, although Besiktas are currently only fifth in the standings.
Aboubakar is a key part of the Indomitable Lions attack line, with 98 caps and 37 goals since 2010.
For the moment, the duration of his absence has not been determined, pending diagnosis, which raises concerns as the Africa Cup of Nations approaches.
The tournament kicks off in two and a half months in the Ivory Coast and Aboubakar’s condition is sparking fears within the ranks of the Indomitable Lion’s den.
